UK’s leading mail delivery service, The Royal Mail has halted its international shipping services due to “severe service disruption” after it suffered a “cyber incident.”
The delivery and collection services across the UK were not affected by the incident. The company advised customers to hold export times while the issues are resolved, as they cannot be dispatched to overseas destinations.
Royal Mail stated that their import operations continue to perform, items that have already been delivered might be subject to delays and that Parcelforce Worldwide services are still operating to all international destinations.
Royal Mail is yet to reveal the actual nature of this incident and they have hired experts for an ongoing investigation and reported it to UK security agencies.
According to a UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) spokesperson, the NCSC is “aware of an incident affecting Royal Mail Group Ltd and are working with the company, alongside the National Crime Agency, to fully understand the impact.”
