Yodel confirms cyberattack disrupting UK deliveries

0

Logistics giant Yodel confirmed about the cyber incident that it was experiencing which is disrupting delivery services in the UK.

The UK delivery company posted an update on its site stating that they are working to restore their operations as quickly as possible.

Even though the firm does not hold any customer payment information, it is currently investigating whether any other personally identifiable information (PII) has been taken.

The customer names, addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers most delivery companies store would be a useful trove for malicious actors who could use it to perform phishing attacks.

The firm recommends customers to stay alert to any unsolicited and unexpected communications that ask for their personal information. They advices users to avoid responding to, clicking on links, or downloading attachments from suspicious email addresses.

Although Yodel has yet to confirm the nature of the attack, it is speculated to be a ransomware given the operational disruption the firm is suffering.

The delivery firm has contacted the National Crime Agency (NCA), the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
