A major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage has disrupted millions of websites and apps worldwide, taking down platforms like Amazon.com, Prime Video, Perplexity AI, Canva, and more.
The outage that began today is impacting users across multiple regions, including the United States and Europe.
According to the AWS Health Dashboard, Amazon has acknowledged a significant disruption affecting multiple services.
AWS noted that they can confirm increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 Region. This issue may also be affecting Case Creation through the AWS Support Center or the Support API. They are actively engaged and working to both mitigate the issue and understand the root cause.
A follow-up note added that engineers are investigating increased error rates and latencies across several core AWS services.
The outage has had a cascading effect across the internet:
- Fortnite: Epic Games confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that login services are affected, though gameplay remains functional.
- Perplexity AI: The AI-powered search and chat platform reported its app is currently offline.
- Canva: The graphic design platform acknowledged “significantly increased error rates” disrupting image editing and other key features.
According to Downdetector, at least 15 major online services are affected by the AWS outage, including entertainment and finance platforms.

AWS has not yet provided an estimated time for full restoration. The AWS outage is the first major internet disruption since last year’s CrowdStrike malfunction that hobbled technology systems in hospitals, banks and airports globally.
